<p>Camp Tyler December 1th 1863<br />My dear wife I received your letter on<br />the first and was glad to hear you and <br />the children was well as this laves me <br />at present thank god I was glad to<br />hear you had sutch a good thanks<br />given I had some bread and soup <br />for dinner for my thanksgiven dinner<br />I received a paper from father a<br />friday it twas a pretty good one<br />About the childrens likenesses I have<br />got them but the are pretty well<br />worin out Ellens and Marey Anns<br />looks pretty well but Willies and Maggeys<br />is pretty well wore out on the last march<br />I had them in my breast pocket and the<br />heat blistered them but I can tell them<br />I bet I am in the same place yet<br />the are sending them away evrey day<br />I cannot tell how long it twill be<br />the are sending them to Alexandra<br />there has been some of them left this camp</p>
<p>[page 2]<br />A week ago and the got 4 months pay<br />there is no use of sending for a descriptive<br />list in this camp it tis not like a<br />Convalesent camp it it twas I could<br />have got mine before this time the boys<br />has a pretty hard time of it know<br />I seen one of the redgement hear to<br />day he came from home he was on a<br />furlow from alexandra he told me<br />that there was 4 of company B boys in<br />the camp whare he was I cannot tell<br />the day I will be sent there you can<br />tell david that leutenant Moor is <br />leutenant cornell of the redgement<br />know he is from New britain he <br />will know him it tis a hard old <br />redgement know I herd it tis allmost<br />filled up again with conscripts but<br />all the old boys sticks to themselves<br />I have not herd from Gorge sinse I rote<br />to you last the papers states that<br />Mead has autgenereld lee again<br />I hope god will give him strength</p>
<p>[page 3]<br />to do so and put an end to this<br />cruel war you mentioned in your letter<br />that the was around taking the names from <br />18 to 45 I hope the will send them all<br />out and let them have a little of it<br />it twill do them good I have nothing <br />knew to rite to you but it tis<br />pretty cold hear know I got me an<br />old stove and made me a hole<br />in the tent so there is 3 of the 14th<br />Boys stops allong with me we keep<br />pretty warm it tis not like the rest<br />of the poor boys in fronth I can feel<br />for them I cannot tell how long before<br />it comes my turin but you cannot<br />get to the redgement know for there<br />is know comunications to the armey<br />of the Potomac know I hope this<br />winter will make some change on<br />this war give my love to Margret and John <br />David and Susan and familey how<br />come John Pryor to get them ambrey<br />types I shall let you know when</p>
