Governor Winthrop Statue
This monument to John Winthrop the Younger, who founded New London in 1646, was designed by sculptor Bela Lyon Pratt in 1904-05. Winthrop was infuential in naming the city New London, and also worked to unite the emerging colony of Connecticut.
